Home Internet
This snip holds my notes made while helping Stan upgrade his internet connections/terminal infrastucture. His current phone supplier is
Talk Talk.
Phone Options
Talk Talk broadband comes by default with a modem, which I assume has a USB cable. Their web site page,
Guide to Installation talks about both a USB cable and a recommended ethernet cable. The
Setting up Broadband states that there is an option between wired and wireless routers. The wireless router attracts a ?20 one off charge.
The latter page states that the default devices are:-
- smartax mt882, a wired xDSL modem from Huawei, its web site is down or
- echolife hg520s, is the wireless version also from Huawei
Talk Talk sales recommend upgrading to
Talk2Talk Int'l plan.
If we opt for the non-wireless connection, is there a physical constraint on where the modem sits wrt to the NTU or the desktop.
